The purpose of this spot was to announce and unveil Martha Stewart’s exclusive new line of craft products available only at Michaels arts and crafts stores. Everything in the spot is either part of the crafts line or something that can be made from the products in the line.

This project is special to me because it marked my first foray up at Digital Kitchen (Seattle) as a freelancer. I was brought on to create 3D and 2.5D portions of this piece.  My 3D work was done in Maya and consists primarily of the scene with the ribbon waterfall. Once we rise above the clouds the birds, scrapbook, and ribbon continue on as 3D rendered elements incorporated into a 2.5D After Effects environment that I animated.

The shots leading up to the ribbon waterfall scene were wonderfully animated by Tim Howe and John Foreman. Tim Howe also did a great job of pulling everything together at the end of the spot with the transition to the live action hands and subsequently the end tag. John Foreman also helped me create some of the animation you see of the birds as they fly above the clouds. Big props should be given to Sevrin Henderson as well for the incredible job he did as creative lead! The role of producer was masterfully pulled off by Carrine Fisher.
